The first one is in the name of the file: classes12.zip works with JDK 1.2 and later, ojdbc7.jar works with java7 and later. Even if classes12.zip works fine with JAVA 8, it is not supported. Be sure you check the support matrix on the Oracle JDBC FAQ. Oracle 11g and classes12.jar. Apr 15 2010, 02:36 AM. Post #1 classes12.jar doesn't exist in 11g anymore, you need to use ojdbc. I downloaded the ojdbc6.jar executable jar file and the Oracle 11g XE from Maven 3 + If you want ojdbc, ← Download jdbc driver for oracle. 11G JDBC driver ojdbc5.jar and ojdbc6.jar.
JDBC Drivers - Oracle JDBC Drivers 11g Oracle JDBC drivers provide compatibilty between different version of the Oracle server. Oracle JDBC/OCI drivers do not provide support between OCI libraries. The JDBC driver included with ADS supports native connections to Oracle 11g/10g/9i/8i, but only OCI connections with the 11g client software. If you have the 8i/9i OCI client drivers installed on your machine and you would like to use them with ADS then you will need to install the Oracle 8i/9i JDBC driver, which has support for 8i/9i OCI libraries. Note OSX Installations: OCI Connections are not supported on OSX. There is no need to change or update the drivers on OSX.
You may locate the latest Oracle JDBC drivers at the following location. Vendor: Driver URL: Free Registration Required You may locate the JDBC drivers for your installed version of Oracle in the Oracle server or Oracle client installations. Below is a directory listing of the driver files in the ORACLEHOME jdbc lib directory. The ojdbc14.jar file is the Oracle JDBC driver required by ADS and the nlscharser12.jar is the language pack for the JDBC driver. If you are using Oracle 8i then the ojdbc14.jar file will not exist but may be substituted by the classes12.jar or classes12.zip file. Many articles said ojdbc14.jar is oralce10g jdbc driver, so what are their relation between JDK version( JDK1.4/JDK1.5/JDK1.6) AND Oracle database version( Oracle 9i/10g) AND JDBC Driver Version( classes12.jar/ojdbc14.jar)? Our project is JDK1.4+Oralce9.2+ojdbc14.jar and i don't whether is good or not. Each of these ojdbc jars are related to particular JDK version, but Java supports backward compatability, so you can use ojdbc14 jar in any web/appserver supporting JDK 1.4 or higher. Similarly ojdbc5.jar is for JDK 1.5 and higher (cant be used in webcontainer which does not jdk 5) ojdbc6.jar is for JDK 1.6 and higher. Hello, i have a question concerning on working with Oracle bu i do not where to begin.
